DAC 1904: A completely different challenge awaits at home

The heavy 0-6 loss in Enschede was a major setback for DAC 1904, especially after such a solid start to their competitive campaign. Robert Klauss’ men had previously gone four matches unbeaten, including two victories over Velež, a 1-1 draw with Ružomberok and a 2-0 success against Dukla Banská Bystrica. During that run, they conceded only once.

The first leg against Twente quickly exposed the difference in quality. DAC were already two goals down after just 11 minutes, while their defensive structure collapsed further after the interval. Still, the Slovaks did have opportunities of their own, with Uroš Kabić narrowly missing before Ammar Ramadan forced a good save from Lars Unnerstall.

Ramadan remains one of DAC’s biggest attacking threats after scoring twice against Velež. With players such as Giorgi Gagua, Abdoulaye Gueye, Kabić and Matej Trusa also available, the hosts should look far more aggressive on familiar ground. With qualification effectively beyond reach, the priority will be to restore some pride, give their supporters something to cheer about and avoid another defensive collapse.

Twente: Six-goal advantage puts the Dutch in cruise control

Twente entered the Conference League after being eliminated by Ferencváros in Europa League qualifying, losing 1-2 at home before drawing 2-2 in Budapest. Against DAC, however, the Dutch side looked a level above from the very beginning.

The 6-0 first-leg victory was particularly impressive because six different Twente players found the net. Dan Rots, Marko Pjaca, Dauda Weidmann, Max Bruns, Ramiz Zerrouki and Robin Pröpper all scored, while the hosts established a 2-0 lead within the opening 11 minutes before adding four more after the break.

With such a commanding advantage, John van den Brom has little reason to demand another high-intensity performance. Twente possess enough squad depth to rotate several positions, while the coach has also indicated that the squad emerged from the first encounter without major injury concerns.

The visitors are therefore likely to approach the return leg pragmatically. Rather than constantly pressing and chasing another big score, Twente can focus on keeping possession, slowing the tempo and protecting their aggregate advantage. Avoiding injuries and completing the tie efficiently should be the main objectives.
